We design and build the world’s highest quality welded aluminum boats, customize them for each client and provide an unsurpassed level of customer service throughout the build process and beyond. Driven by innovation and a team of dedicated professionals, Munson Boats are the preferred choice of professional mariners in government and commercial organizations, as well as private buyers who desire “The Ultimate Workboat®”

Superior By Design

Each boat starts with a detailed specification describing the boat and its overall outfitting.  From there it is designed using the latest CAD and naval engineering software, including AutoCAD, Rhino, AutoShip, Solidworks and GHS. This software allows us to determine the vessel weight, draft, stability and performance estimates. We then share vessel drawings with each client requesting customer feedback that is paramount in our design process. This high-level naval engineering allows us to execute the build in a more efficient manner and deliver a superior final product.

Best Welding In The Business

Our welds are never ground but rather become a part of the visual quality of a Munson Boat.  We do not hide our work but proudly ask you to admire our craftsmanship.  Munson has certified its welding procedures to AWS D1.2 Structural Welding Code to ensure every boat is welded to the highest standard. Our shop is plumbed with a central gas mixing station providing a helium-argon mix to all welding machines.  The use of helium improves thermal conductivity, delivering increased penetration and improving the “wetting” of the weld bead.  Many boat builders no longer use helium, or only use helium in critical weld areas, due to its high cost.

World Class Fit & Finish

With over 40 years of experience building thousands of boats comes the knowledge of how to properly outfit a vessel. Many Munson Boats are outfitted with complex electrical and propulsion control systems.  We employ ABYC certified marine electricians to ensure every Munson boat is built with the highest level of safety and dependability. ABYC safety standards are so extensive that they cover the majority of boat manufacturing requirements implemented by many other countries. Munson routinely builds USCG Subchapter-T passenger vessels, Transport Canada compliant vessels, as well as EU Recreational Craft Directive compliant vessels.

Built To Last

When it comes to building a durable and reliable aluminum boat, the use of high-quality materials is essential. At Munson, we use ¼-inch 5086 plate aluminum in our hull construction, offering a range of benefits for boat owners. First and foremost, this thickness provides superior strength and durability, allowing our boats to handle even the most challenging conditions with ease. Additionally, this thickness offers excellent impact and abrasion resistance, protecting the hull from damage caused by rocks, debris, and other hazards. With a Munson boat you can trust that you’re investing in a high-quality vessel that will provide years of reliable service, no matter how tough the conditions.

Well Rounded Features

Roll formed ¼-inch aluminum plate round corners at the bow aren’t just for style, they add tremendous strength and structural integrity to the bow. The roll formed and work hardened plate distributes the impact forces from glancing blows over a larger area and resist deformation. This is crucial for the longevity of industrial workboats and is a standard feature on every Munson. It is part of what makes our design rigid and strong independent of the bow door.

Redefining Landing Craft

Bow doors are endlessly versatile, and Munson’s industry-leading bow door, perfected over decades, prioritize durability, simplicity, and longevity. Precision-engineered with bushed hinges offer smooth operation and prolonged life, while isolating dissimilar metals in the marine environment. A watertight seal is formed by interlocking aluminum channels and a rubber gasket, while ¾-inch stainless steel locks ensure the bow door stays closed, even in rough conditions. Based on client needs, the bow door can be set up for cable winch or hydraulic cylinder operation and additional features like dive ladders and extension ramps can be added to enhance functionality.
Munson Boats combine specialized excellence with elite craftsmanship. Munson Boats provide the best value of any aluminum boat on the market today.

A Trusted Partner

Our formula for success is simple – we do what we say and say what we do.  Open and honest communication is the key to our success and we are not afraid to say “no”.  We would rather build nothing than deliver a bad boat. The final product must always come first.  At Munson, we will go above and beyond to ensure every vessel is fit for purpose, even if that means lower profit margins.  That is why we have been trusted partner in the boat building industry for over 40 years. Trustworthy customer service is a key part of every Munson Boat, and is often overlooked when buying a new boat.  From general information to product support or verifying the feasibility of upgrades and modifications, we’ll be here when you need us.

At Munson, we recycle every piece of aluminum scrap, including barrels full of tiny aluminum cutting chips. Approximately 75% of aluminum ever produced is still in use today due to its ability to be infinitely recycled without losing any of its properties. Aluminum is one of the most recycled materials globally, with approximately 50-60% of aluminum produced in a given year derived from recycled sources. The recycling of aluminum requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce primary aluminum, making it both an eco-friendly and cost-effective boat building material. The high recycling rate of aluminum is a testament to its value as a material and we are doing our part for the global commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices.
