Many of the barrier islands within Cape Lookout National Seashore are only accessible by boat. The National Park Service uses their 52’ Munson landing craft to transport equipment and personnel to the remote areas under their management. Outfitting includes a Zipwake automatic trim-control system, jack plates for shallow-water operations, a hydraulically operated bow door, 12v bow thruster, fresh water washdown system, 6kw Northern Lights generator, rooftop air-conditioning unit, Garmin navigation suite, and an elevated wheelhouse with sky view windows for improved visibility.
