The State University of New York’s Lake Champlain Research Institute operates a 36’ Munson research vessel supporting a wide range of aquatic studies on Lake Champlain. The vessel is used for core sampling, deploying plankton nets, and conducting bottom trawl surveys. Outfitting includes an 11’ tall 1,500-lb-capacity hydraulic A-frame, Kinematics 16×10 deck winch holding 600’ of Dyneema line, port and starboard davits with hydraulic winches, Volvo’s Joystick Piloting System, a multi-display Furuno navigation suite, generator, rooftop air-conditioning, forced-air diesel heat, head compartment, and a removable transom door.
